DATMAN-99 Request for Install Key

This page is for you if you have a computer which runs a version of DATMAN-99 (including the Freeware) and you are trying to install DATMAN-99 on another computer.

DATMAN's standard single-user license is good for one tape drive. The license allows you to install the DATMAN software on up to three (3) computers as long as you intend to attach and operate the same tape drive on those computers. The Freeware does not have this restriction.

Since the Install Key is assigned specific to a machine, you must obtain an Install Key for each computer on which you operate DATMAN.

If you do not have DATMAN-99, or have not set it up on your computer yet, you should download a fresh copy (rather than update) of DATMAN-99 at Selection 1.1 (DATMAN-99).

If you are currently running the Freeware version and you want to install DATMAN on another computer, you may obtain a fresh copy (to avoid the procedure shown below) Selection 1.1 (DATMAN-99).

Steps to Obtain an Install Key for a new computer:

You need to run DATMANCC on the (target) computer you intend to install DATMAN.
If you already have DATMANCC installed on the target computer, just go to Step 8.
First, copy of the DATMANCC.EXE file to any directory of the target computer (you can use a floppy disk or LAN). No other files are necessary. Alternatively, if you have the original DATMAN installation file set (to start SETUP.EXE) handy on a diskette, you can also install DATMAN from SETUP. But this involves more files and generally takes longer.
Run DATMANCC on the target computer with the tape drive powered up.
DATMANCC will provide a series of dialogs for DATMAN installation. Enter the DATMAN Serial Number and old Install Key. Select the tape drive you intend to use on the target computer.
DATMAN may display one or more warning messages but you can ignore all.
In most cases, you must reboot the system to run DATMANCC again.
Run DATMANCC on the target computer with the tape drive powered up. Since the original Install Key you used was not issued for this hardware configuration, DATMAN may display a warning message. You can ignore it.
Click HELP menu's Update and Upgrade command.
Obtain the Serial Number and the System Code in the dialog window.
Fill out the form below.
If you want to download the DATMAN package now, you may do so by following the instructions given in the next page.
You will receive a separate E-Mail with the download URL, Serial Number, and Install Key which will be needed in the DATMAN installation step.
